On February 20, 2009 the Federal Communications Commission released new information regarding the implementation of the DTV Delay Act. The Act provides more time for Americans to prepare for the digital transition.
Cable, satellite, and other paid TV subscribers don't need to do anything to receive digital television service. If you receive your television signal through a rooftop antenna or rabbit ears and your television set is a digital television set, you don?t need to do anything either. You are all set for the transition.
But, if you receive your television signal through a rooftop antenna or rabbit ears and your television set is an older analog set, you need to act now if you haven't already. You will need to purchase a digital-to-analog converter box. The converter box connects to your analog television set and will allow you to receive the digital signals for viewing on your analog set.
Alternatively, you could buy a digital television set or subscribe to cable or satellite. Converter boxes are available at local electronics retailers and other retailers where you buy television sets.
